Dog-friendly restaurants in London
Restaurants are the hardest category in London for dog owners, and the reason is structural rather than attitudinal: dining rooms are small, tables turn fast, and food-preparation areas carry rules that bar areas do not. The result is that a restaurant calling itself dog-friendly very often means the pavement tables.
The pattern worth knowing is that London restaurants with a genuine bar area are far more likely to take dogs indoors than those without one, regardless of how smart they are. Mayfair hotel dining rooms are more accommodating than Soho neighbourhood restaurants — the opposite of what most people expect — because they simply have more floor space per cover.
