Dog walks in London

Every walk here records where dogs may go off-lead, taken from the body that actually sets the rule — the borough council’s Public Spaces Protection Order, the Royal Parks, the City of London Corporation or the Canal & River Trust — and quoted.

This matters more than it sounds. PSPOs are legally enforceable and carry fixed-penalty notices, they differ between adjacent boroughs, and they are renewed on cycles that change the rules without much announcement. Most walk guides simply say “off-lead friendly” and leave you to find out otherwise.

50 walks listed; 40 have off-lead rules we could cite to an official source. The rest are marked unverified — we would rather say we do not know than have you fined. Sources last checked 19 July 2026. How we verify.

Where we cannot tell you

10walks carry no off-lead position. In most cases the council site blocks automated access. In two — Ravenscourt Park and Bishop’s Park — the reason is more interesting: Hammersmith & Fulham’s dog-control order reached its own stated end date of 17 May 2026 and we cannot establish from any published source whether it was renewed. A Public Spaces Protection Order that has lapsed is not enforceable; one that has been quietly extended is. We will not guess which, so those parks say nothing rather than something plausible.
