What we collect

Nothing, if you only read. Browsing the site does not require you to give us anything, and we do not ask your browser to store anything that identifies you.

An email address, only if you type one into a form. The correction and venue-claim forms include an optional email field. It exists so we can come back to you if a submission needs clarifying, and it is optional precisely because a correction is just as useful anonymously. If you leave it blank the submission still works.

Alongside a submission we necessarily receive what you wrote — the venue, the change you are reporting and any source link you give us. We use that to check the record against the source and, where you are right, to update it.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or share your details with anyone.
• We do not send marketing. If you give us an email address, you will hear from us only about the thing you submitted.
• We do not run advertising or advertising trackers.
• We do not build a profile of you across visits or across sites.

Analytics

We want to know which pages are useful, and that can be done without following anyone around. Where analytics are enabled, the site uses a privacy-preserving, cookieless measurement tool that records page views in aggregate and does not set an identifier on your device. Nothing loads at all if no analytics provider is configured.

If that ever changes to a tool that stores something on your device, this page will say so and you will be asked first — that is a legal requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and it is also the only honest way to do it.

Links to venues

Every venue profile links to that venue’s own website and to the source page we quoted. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.

How long we keep things

Form submissions are kept while the correction is being handled and for a reasonable period afterwards so we have a record of why a listing changed — an audit trail is part of how this dataset stays trustworthy. Email addresses attached to resolved submissions are removed once they are no longer needed.

Your rights, and how to use them

Under UK data protection law you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice that means: if you submitted a correction and gave an email address, you can ask us to remove it and we will.

Use the correction form and say what you want done. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If you run a venue listed here

Venue records describe businesses, not people: an address, a dog policy, and a quote from a page the business published itself. If you believe a record is wrong, out of date, or quotes something you have since changed, tell us and we will re-read the source — that is what the claim form is for. We will correct a genuine error quickly and without argument.
