This is the evidence for off-lead rules at Finsbury Park lake and New River path. It was read from haringey.gov.uk on 19 July 2026.Haringey requires dogs to be on a lead no longer than 2 metres in all areas of the borough except, among others, in a park larger than half a hectare. Finsbury Park is well over half a hectare.
On-lead areas: If you are in an area where your dog doesn't have to be on a lead, you must put it on a lead if asked by a Haringey authorised officer. Dogs are not allowed at all in clearly signed areas such as children's play areas. One person can walk 6 dogs at most at one time.
A Public Spaces Protection Order applies here. Haringey has a PSPO covering dog fouling, dogs on leads, areas where dogs cannot go, and the maximum number of dogs that can be walked at one time. A borough-wide replacement PSPO was made to run for 3 years from 1 May 2025.

Notes
CURRENCY CAVEAT: the quoted wording was retrieved from an archived capture of Haringey's official control-of-dogs page; the live page blocks automated access and Haringey adopted a replacement borough-wide PSPO from 1 May 2025, so the exact wording in force today should be re-checked.
