Off-lead in designated areas

Highbury Fields Part of site - playground, children's enclosed family safe play areas opposite cafe and on top field

islington.moderngov.co.ukChecked 19 July 2026

This is the evidence for off-lead rules at Highbury Fields. It was read from islington.moderngov.co.uk on 19 July 2026.

Islington's dog PSPO has three conditions - dog fouling, dogs on leads by direction, and dog exclusion areas. There is no blanket lead requirement, so dogs may be off lead outside the named exclusion zones.

On-lead areas: The PSPO's exclusion schedule for this site reads: Highbury Fields - Part of site - playground, children's enclosed family safe play areas opposite cafe and on top field. It is also an offence to fail to put or keep a dog on a lead when told to do so by an authorised officer.

A Public Spaces Protection Order applies here. Islington's Public Spaces Protection Orders began on 20 October 2017 and have since been renewed. Fixed penalty notice of GBP 100 (GBP 60 if paid within 10 days); court fines up to GBP 1,000.
