Off-lead rules

Off-lead allowed

Official land or licensing authority
Dogs will still be allowed to play off-lead freely in all parks and green spaces in the borough.

towerhamlets.gov.ukChecked 19 July 2026

This is the evidence for off-lead rules at Victoria Park east and west lakes. It was read from towerhamlets.gov.uk on 19 July 2026.

Tower Hamlets confirmed that dogs will still be allowed to play off-lead freely in all parks and green spaces in the borough under the 2025 dog control PSPO.

On-lead areas: Dogs are excluded from gated children's play areas and gated sports areas. Dogs must be on a lead on all public roads, pavements and car parks and on all estate roads and communal areas. An authorised officer may direct that a dog be put on a lead.

Seasonal: Tower Hamlets advise against letting dogs enter lakes during the spring/summer waterfowl breeding season.

A Public Spaces Protection Order applies here. This public space protection order (PSPO) is made on 30 April 2025 and shall have effect for a period of 3 years thereafter. No person shall oversee more than four dogs in any Public Place.

Notes

Over 80 hectares. Park is locked overnight. Blue Badge drive-in facilities. The single most-used dog park in east London and a strong match for the Shoreditch and London Fields dining neighbourhoods.
