This is the evidence for off-lead rules at Wandsworth Common and the Windmill. It was read from wandsworth.gov.uk on 19 July 2026.Wandsworth formally designates dog exercise areas - places where you can exercise your dog without having to clear up dog waste - alongside dog free areas and poop-scoop areas.
On-lead areas: Dogs are excluded from children's play areas, enclosed sports and fitness facilities, the lake, the Stock Pond, the cricket field and adjacent sports field, and the enclosed area adjacent to Windmill Children's Centre. Dogs must be on leads on all public highways including pavements, verges and adjacent grass amenity areas, and in car parks and cafe outdoor eating areas. An authorised officer may direct a dog onto a lead.
A Public Spaces Protection Order applies here. Dogs must be on leads in specified areas including all public highways, and an authorised person may require a dog to be put on a lead. It is an offence to have more than 4 dogs at any one time.

Notes
Wandsworth publishes a dog control map for the SW11 and SW18 areas of the common; the map PDF exceeded fetch limits so the precise boundaries of the exercise, poop-scoop and dog-free zones were not verified. Enforced by Wandsworth Parks Police.
